Our original scheme with Braime Pressings Limited was the construction of a new atmosphere-controlled warehouse extension to their existing building at Hunslet Road. Following the successful completion, we were awarded the Chain Cell Rebuild.
With the existing building categorised as a Grade II listed building, the team were challenged with design implications and listed building consent. To overcome this issue, certain materials such as brickwork were reclaimed from the former Chain Cell Building and were utilised in the construction of the rebuild of the Chain Cell with listed building consent.
The works involved the de-construction brick by brick and re-build of the existing listed building using the reclaimed materials and features to the live pressings factory. Before works could commence we needed to consider how we maintained the production in the factory and supported the existing roof and external wall. The challenge was to maintain the same external appearance and open the internal space to give our client more flexibility with his working space.
Nu are led by an experienced and competent senior team who involve eliminating problems on a non-confrontational and non-contractual basis. Their attitude to recognising the importance of good management with regards to Health & safety is very evident.
